During a 2019 interview withNPR, he recalled its powerful effect on him the instant he heard it.
“That song just stopped me in my tracks,” Young said, noting the powerful lyrics.

Wow the human condition in two lines.”
Young was the father of two children, Juli and Cheyenne Young, from his previous marriage.
