That’s a really, really interesting question.
“My parents were of the generation that went through a lot of things,” he says.
“They went through the Depression.
So they went through a lot of stuff.
But they were very stoic people.”
“I was acting in plays and trying to find a girlfriend and all that stuff.
It came to exam time, and I realized I’d done almost no work.
It got me very anxious.
Anyway, I got home, and Mum said, ‘How are you, darling?’
and I said, ‘Oh, Mum, I think I’m having a breakdown!

Neill recently starred in the Peacock miniseriesApples Never Fall, in which he played tennis coach Stan Delaney.
The actor broke down his character in aconversation withEntertainment Weeklyin March.
“But he’s also vulnerable and full of love and also kind of hilarious in his own way.
I found Stan to be very funny.
Doesn’t mean to be, but he just is.
He just turns out that way.
He’s a very complex character to play with, and I enjoyed Stan a lot.”
