Did you get to celebrate with any members of the Osage Nation yet?
I mean, everybodys still asleep.
So, well probably roll out that way later.
Have you had a chance to speak toLeonardo DiCaprioor any of the other people from the film yet?
Leo was maybe the third or fourth person to text me congratulations.
I didnt want to watch the screen of the broadcast because I knew I could see that later.
I wanted to see my parents reactions.
I couldnt have done what I did in this film without what he did.
With this nomination, you make history as the first Indigenous American actress to be nominated in this category.
Whats your reaction to a milestone like that?
Its incredible, and a huge part of me just wants to say that it shouldnt have been me.
This should have happened so much longer ago.
Theres no actress alive that surpasses Sheilas talent.
Shes one of the true greats.
It’s incredible that this has happened, and it took a while.
It was incredible to see her representation, and this feels like its a true honor.
I always say this, but its not fully mine.
Its circumstantial that Im the first, and Im so very grateful.
I just know that Im not going to be the last, not by a long shot.
Whats it like to think back on that now that youre here as a nominee?
To me, it felt like that was it.
So I posted that like, Well, I got close, guys!
and then I forgot about it.
Then, when that trended a little bit, I got texted that picture from Leo.
It kind of blew my mind that Leo had access to my high school yearbook.
[Laughs]
But its been great.
Nobody can do a better Mike Myers impersonation than Josh.
Theyre going to do it in our old high school theater.
So, Im glad that theyre not going to be disappointed that they wont be seeing me up there.
Theyll be cheering for you!
In our old high school auditorium, where we used to do all of our plays.
