Quinn O’Grady’s caught in a love triangle and she doesn’t know which man to choose.
But creator April Blair says it’s a bit more complicated than that.

It really was time for Quinn to save herself this season.
To put her own oxygen mask on first.”
Kelly agrees, stressing Quinn’s need to get out of an environment that encourages toxic patterns.

“A few reasons push her to make that choice,” Kelly muses.
“One being yes, she wants to raise the money and make the money on her own.”
She just loves him so much.

So maybe the best thing to do is put the focus back on her."
If the show returns for season 2, hopefully we’ll see Quinn doing just that.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What does she see in Davis?
Because I’m not going to lie, from the outside, I don’t get it.
MINKA KELLY:Well, she sees on paper that he’s probably the right choice.
Am I trying to save someone or do I need to actually maybe save myself?"
Because we all have to save ourselves.
You learn the hard way sometimes that you’ve got the option to’t save anybody.
Then you have this other guy who’s just doing and saying all the right things.

Quinn’s trying to choose differently to choose the right things, the seemingly healthy things.
She’s just trying to navigate a complicated situation.
Why do you think she tells Staten about Davis’s debts?
Because that’s definitely a big secret to share.
I don’t know that she really did it on purpose.
That kind of slipped out, which is why she gets mad at herself after she says it.
I don’t think she meant to betray Davis in that way.
She was probably hoping that he would be more supportive.
And she was a little taken aback by his reaction.
That doesn’t look like love.
Love looks like you want your partner to fulfill all their dreams and to follow their passions.
She was hoping he’d be more supportive and go with her.
Do you think she was intending on trying to resolve things before he did that?
But that’s what I love about that, is what was she actually going to do there?
That would be really fun.
Is that really you playing?
I mean, not the whole thing, but I did have to learn a lot of it.
What a dream come true your job is to learn how to play piano.
That was really fun.
