DOUG COCKLE:No, I did not expect to be called.

I love Geralt so much.

It was an immediate yes for me when my agent called.

He’s a part of me.

I’ve been playing my version of his voice since 2005.

I love every and any opportunity to get back into his shoes.

I know what you’re getting at, but no.

I mean, yes, in a way.

They wanted a Geralt-y kind of voice, but he needed to be British.

That kind of ends up what the voice sounds like in a way.

I think it’s wonderful.

I had such an enjoyable time working opposite Joey Batey in particular.

He’s such a great performer and I just love his Jaskier performance.

Anya Chalotra, she’s wonderful as well.

It’s like a mashup.

It was pretty much the same process for me.

When they called me up, they didn’t ask me to do anything different.

They just asked me to do my Geralt, so that’s what I did.

Well, I didn’t watch it happen, I lived it happening.

WhenWitcher1came out, it had kind of a cult following.

The books didn’t come out in English until 2007.

I was about a third of the way through recordingWitcher 2when I could finally read the books.

If that brings them into theWitcheruniverse, fantastic.

Is that a conversation you’ve had at all?

She hasn’t gone for that.

No, I’ve never met Liam.

I like his work, though.

He’s great in all those action films and inThe Hunger Games.

He’s a really good actor, so I’m really excited to see what he brings to this.

I can’t wait to see what he does.

We heard your voice in that initial teaser.

What excited you about that concept for this game?

To be bluntly honest, I don’t know.

In the game, inWitcher 3, we got a little taste of what playing Ciri might be like.

She’s got such a great story.

If you read the books, she does some really cool stuff.

So for me, it just seemed like a natural evolution of theWitcherstory.

Geralt’s story is finished, but theWitcheruniverse goes on.

Ciri is a great avenue to explore more of that world through a different character’s experience.

So I’m thrilled with their choice to make the protagonist Ciri.

Do you pay attention to any of that online chatter, or do you just ignore it?

I’m aware of it.

It shows up on social media, but I try not to listen to it.

Enjoy it all for what it is.
