It’s a Thursday afternoon in late February as the crew breaks for lunch amid rehearsals.

Story wise, the Broadway and West End versions are the same.

Louis McCartney, who played Henry in London, reprises the role for Broadway.

The psychically inclined teen begins to make friends, even joining the school play.

Aside from McCartney, a cast of predominantly American actors take over the main parts on Broadway.

Alex Breaux,an actor on the upcomingStranger Thingsseason 5, will play Dr. Brenner.

“He’s a soldier,” she says.

Trefry and her collaborators went deep into the play.

“So it is significantly changed, but the story is the same.

I think it’s just a little bit better.”

Martin feels it’s not necessarily better, but different.

Most of the tweaks, he says, are meant “to facilitate some of the new illusions.

There are different setups for them, so they need slightly more narrative help.

The London show’s still got a special place in my heart.

It’s my favorite because there’s something so organic about it.”

That said, Martin feels the Broadway show will “blow your mind in a different way.”

Trefry concurs, returning to the new, more expansive Mind Flayer set piece.
