ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Why did you step up as team captain for the first challenge?

Tony, Averey, Darrell, Jodi

Let me step up to the plate and show you guys what I can bring."

Were you aware that historically, team captains go straight into elimination if their team loses?

There had to be a catch, right?

Averey

I thought in my head, “I have a 50/50 shot.

If Derek wins, being my friend for real, he is not going to pick me.

And if I win, I’m going to keep him safe.”

I already knew it wasn’t just as simple as, pick a team captain.

How did you feel about being captains with Tony before the challenge began?

I felt really good.

Averey

I really like him as a person, I know he’s a very strong competitor.

I felt really safe being with Tony.

I can work with this.

Right out the gate, I knew Tony and I were not going to agree.

“Why do you want to vote Derek?

Why not save him?”

And he really didn’t give me anything to go on.

I had no idea that in his mind he was maybe working with Kaycee or Kyland.

Sorry, not sorry.

I love Derek and Aviv, but let’s get serious.

Who would you want to compete with in a final?

It’s not Kaycee and Kyland or Jodi and Darrell.

And Derek and Aviv are willing to work with me.

It just didn’t make sense, and so that’s why I already knew we had a contention.

I’m getting punished for doing something that I believe in as right.

That to me was unfair.

Why didn’t you talk to me about it?

But there was no discussion, and there continues to be no discussion.

It played out how it’s supposed to play out.

What made you think that?

He kind of took himself out of the game.

I don’t think any castmate onAll Stars 4knows what the family emergency was, including Nicole.

I thought it was a cop out.

Everybody in the house kind of felt the same way.

Tony, your game should not have been on the line.

My game should have not been on the line.

Tony was very cocky, especially before we went into elimination.

I felt like he thought I was going to bend.

Tony didn’t pack his suitcases.

I’m ready to go home."

And he wasn’t.

I’m like, “Okay, then we’re going to go in.”

And that arrogance is just very ugly.

Tony, you don’t care about other people.

You’re super selfish.

You just care about you and your paycheck and what you get out of this.

And for me, this was redemption.

This was way more than just the money.

And I feel like he tried to take that away from me.

That’s why at the end of the day, I feel really disrespected by him.

At least you won your elimination and didn’t get sent home because of this.

There’s definitely karma involved.

I would have been mad if I would’ve went home.

To have that immediate win and for him to go home was truly the cherry on top.

I got to prove myself.

And the person that tried to screw me over actually got punished immediately.

Let that be a lesson, don’t mess with me.

Does that mean you two got married afterAll Stars 4?

What’s going on there?

Adam and I are doing really great.

Everything’s going really well.

It’s just a matter of when, it’s not a matter of if.

He goes, “No, no, no, no.

So we’re very open with it.

It’s just a matter of when the timing’s right.

The girls know, his family knows.

Hold on [Averey walks inside the house to get Adam Larson and his two daughters].

Adam, do you want to say hi?

ADAM LARSON:Hi, how are you?

AVEREY:We’re just rocking and rolling over here.

This is our life now.

ADAM:Off to the library, we got some books in.

They’re very jealous that we’re watching it now.

ADAM:We don’t have cable, so it’s kind of tough for the kids to support.

It was easier on Paramount+.

We need like a streaming MTV app.

AVEREY:We’ll watch it though.

We’ll save it they’re too little.

A couple more years.
