“This is truly the loss of all innocence.”

First, they ate Jackie (Ella Purnell).

(But hey, she was already dead!)

Then, they let Javi (Luciano Leroux) drown because the Wilderness made its choice.

(They also ate him.)

And now, they’ve taken things another step further: They’ve committed murder.

But Ben was done.

And then they forced food down his throat.

“This is the biggest turning point for her.

Where Javi was a huge turning point, this is truly the loss of all innocence.”

And it’s one that Krueger knew was coming for a while.

Before filming began on season 3, he was given the official word: Ben was a goner.

But how he’d go was another discussion entirely.

“I didn’t know who was going to be the one to kill him,” Thatcher says.

It was out of just wanting to give him peace and something finally clicked.

He’s in hell and she just wants peace for him."

“I think it’s more of a proper end for the character,” Krueger says.

Even though the plot is very fascinating, this is a character piece.

“It was rough,” Krueger says.

“I honestly get emotional just thinking about it.

The border was closed.

It was not the easiest thing to get through.

It was a lot having to stop and catch our breath.”

Thatcher adds, “It was really, really, really devastating.

Everyone loves Steven, and he is such an important part of the family.

But Pete [Chatmon], the director, was so calm and so understanding and very specific.

There was a lot of sobbing.

I would just go home and cry.”

Natalie isn’t the only character that has to say goodbye to a friend.

After discovering Ben’s corpse, Misty gives her crush a kiss.

“It just freaks me out.

I knew that that she had my back.

I thought that was such a beautiful scene and a good way for their relationship to end.”

It might be goodbye for Ben, but this isYellowjackets, so who’s to say it’s forever?

“I think it’s the beginning.

It’s been a trajectory toward connecting the two [Natalies].

It’s truly just darker now.”
