Tonight’s episode of the ABC first responder drama was Bobby’s final rescue.

They’re gonna need you.
I love you, kid.”

“It probably happened during the explosion,” he tells his wife.
“Why didn’t you say something?”
There was only one dose, he tells her.

“I started feeling it hours ago,” Bobby explains.
“I’m sorry.
This isn’t how I wanted to leave you.”

“You’re not leaving me, I won’t let you,” Athena replies.
“you oughta listen to me like,” Bobby continues.
“I’m not choosing to leave you.

I chose to save my team because it was the right thing to do.
It was never because I wanted to go.
I don’t want to go.
if I could choose I would stay with you always.”
“Then stay,” pleads Athena.
“We need more time.”
“I’m sorry,” he responds.
“We don’t have any more time…mine was always borrowed.
Athena continues to plead, and all Bobby can say through coughs is that he loves her.
“Athena, you have to go.
you’ve got the option to’t be here for this next part,” he finally concludes.
“When he saved my life, he knew.”
9-1-1continues with three more season 8 episodes and will return for season 9.
